This program will begin accepting students Spring 2025.

The Programmable Controller II Technical Certificate of Credit is designed to offer specialized programmable controller training to qualified industrial technicians consisting of instruction selected for the Industrial Systems Technology diploma program. Course work addresses operational theory, systems terminology, and field wiring and installation. Emphasis is placed on the use of PLC equipment and peripheral devices with a concentration in PLC programming, installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

This program qualifies for the HOPE Career Grant.

Program Outcomes: Graduates will acquire the skills to maintain, inspect, service, and repair industrial motors, motor controls, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), as well as to inspect, diagnose, and replace industrial instrumentation.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2 Lab 2 - 2 Lab 3 - 3 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): None This course introduces the theory and practical application for two-wire control circuits, advanced motor controls, and variable speed motor controls. Emphasis is placed on circuit sequencing, switching, and installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2 Lab 2 - 0 Lab 3 - 6 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): None Provides instruction in the principles and practices of instrumentation for industrial process control systems with an emphasis on industrial maintenance techniques for production equipment. Topics include: instrument tags; process documentation; basic control theory; sensing pressure, flow, level, and temperature; instrument calibration; and loop tuning.
