Mill Operator, TCC (MP11)  Technical Certificate of Credit

The Mill Operator certificate program teaches students to effectively operate milling machinery. Students become proficient in blueprint reading, general mathematical operations, and are provided the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain employment as a milling machinist.

This program qualifies for the HOPE Career Grant.

Program Outcomes: Upon graduation, students will have developed comprehensive knowledge and skills in both basic and advanced milling machine calculations, setup, and operations. They will also be proficient in evaluating fundamental concepts and procedures for machine tool applications, as well as interpreting machine tool blueprints, sketches, and drawings. These competencies prepare graduates to excel in machining roles, ensuring they can perform effectively across various tasks and applications within the field.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2 Lab 2 - 4 Lab 3 - 0 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): None Introduces the fundamental concepts and procedures necessary for the safe and efficient use of basic machine tools. Topics include: machine shop safety, terminology, use of hand and bench tools, analysis of measurements, part layout, horizontal and vertical band saw setup and operation, drill press setup and operation, and quality control.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 3 Lab 2 - 0 Lab 3 - 0 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): None Introduces the fundamental concepts necessary to develop blueprint reading competencies, interpret drawings, and produce sketches for machine tool applications. Topics include interpretation of blueprints, sketching, sectioning, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and assembly drawings.
