Electrical Lineworker with Pintle Hook Restriction, TCC (EL21) Technical Certificate of Credit
The Electrical Lineworker with Pintle Hook Restriction certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge and skill to gain employment as an entry-level lineworker with electrical utility companies, both public and private. Upon successful completion of this program, students meet the federal requirements to test for their Class A license with Pintle Hook Restriction. Topics include fundamentals of commercial driving, CDL road and range driving, lineworker organization principles, general electrical safety, basic electric fundamentals, lineman simulations, observation-based instruction, interview skills, problem solving, work ethics, and communication skills.
This program qualifies for the HOPE Career Grant.
Program Outcomes: Upon completion of the program, the graduate will have developed the knowledge and skills to demonstrate competent driving with a Class A license with a pintle hook restriction, as well as an understanding of applicable state and federal regulations. Additionally, the graduate will be equipped with essential lineworker occupational skills necessary for entry into the field.

CTDL 1010Fundamentals of Commercial Driving
Fundamentals of Commercial Driving introduces students to the transportation industry, federal and state regulations, records and forms, industrial relations, and other non-driving activities. This course provides an emphasis on safety that will continue throughout the program. |

ELCR 1900Introduction to Electrical Lineworker
This course provides a comprehensive summary of lineworker requirements. Topics include general electrical safety, effective communication skills, positive work ethics, problem solving, and job interview skills. |

ELCR 1920Electrical Lineworker Skills
This course familiarizes the student with the fundamental skills needed for an electrical lineworker. Topics include hand tools, power tools, and basic electric fundamentals. Students also participate in lineman simulations and complete an observation-based instruction activity. |

ELCR 1940CDL with Pintle Hook Restriction: Range and Road W
Co-req: CTDL 1010 This course familiarizes students with truck instruments, controls, and performing basic maneuvers required to drive safely in a Class A vehicle with a pintle hook restriction. Each student must demonstrate proficiency in performing range operations such as operating a truck through clearance maneuvers, backing, turning, parallel parking and coupling/uncoupling while on the range. Each student must also demonstrate proficiency when driving on the road under a multitude of conditions. |
