Automotive Chassis Technician Specialist, TCC (ASG1)  Technical Certificate of Credit

The Automotive Chassis Technician Specialist certificate program provides students with skills needed to enter the automotive industry as an entry level chassis technician. Topics covered include: shop safety, basic electrical/electronic theory and diagnosis, chassis components and types, steering system components and service, alignment theory and procedures, and brake system operation, diagnosis and repair.

This program qualifies for the HOPE Career Grant.

Program Outcomes: Upon graduation, students will demonstrate proficiency in following a systematic diagnostic process while conducting repairs in automotive service shops. They will actively pursue ongoing training to stay updated on advancements in vehicle systems, ensuring their knowledge remains current. Graduates will exhibit strong skills in seeking and applying technical information to diagnose issues effectively. Additionally, they will communicate professionally and knowledgeably with both peers and customers regarding all repair procedures, enhancing their ability to provide high-quality service in the automotive industry.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 1 Lab 2 - 2 Lab 3 - 0 Pre-Requisites: None Co-Requisite: COLL 1010 Introduces basic concepts and practices necessary for safe and effective automotive shop operations. Topics include: safety procedures; legal/ethical responsibilities; general service; hand tools; shop organization, management, and work flow systems.

Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2 Lab 2 - 2 Lab 3 - 3 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): AUTT 1010 This course introduces brake systems theory and its application to automotive barking systems and anti-lock brake system (ABS). Topics include: hydraulic system diagnosis and repair; drum brake diagnosis and repair; disc brake diagnosis and repair; power assist units diagnosis and repair; related systems (wheel bearings, parking brakes, electrical, etc.) diagnosis and repair; and electronic brake control systems.
