Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov.
To complete the FAFSA, you will need to create as FSA ID with your own username and password.
- All students will create an FSA ID on your first visit to the FAFSA website. Please make a note of your username and password, as you will need this information each time you login.
*If you have ever created an account, you cannot create a new one. - For dependent students, both the student and parent need an FSA ID to electronically complete and sign the FAFSA.
- If you already have an FSA ID but have lost the information, “Forgot email, phone, or username” or “Forgot password” and follow the instructions. Use this link if you are still having trouble logging back into your Student Aid account: https://studentaid.gov/help-center/answers/article/help-accessing-account-fsa-id
- NOTE: If you use the Challenge Question option to reset your password, you must wait 30 minutes before using the new password.
- QUICK TIP: Add your cell phone number for quicker retrieval of your Username and to reset your password.
Consent and Approval to Retrieve and Disclose Federal Tax Information
- Consent is required from all contributors (student, parent(s), or spouse, if applicable) on the FAFSA form to allow the U.S. Department of Education to retrieve federal tax information directly from the IRS.
- Without this consent, the student will NOT be eligible for federal student aid (Pell).
- Everyone must consent, even if they did not file a tax return.
- Giving consent:
- Speeds up completion of the FAFSA
- Ensures financial data is accurate and up to date
The FAFSA must be completed once each academic year and is available on October 1st.
- The FAFSA uses income information from two years back.
- FAFSA results can be viewed on the student’s FSA account as a FAFSA Submission Summary, and are sent electronically to the college(s) whose school code is indicated on the FAFSA.
Get Answers to Your FAFSA questions.
