Automotive Transmission/ Transaxle Tech Specialist - AA71 Technical Certificate of Credit

The Automotive Transmission/Transaxle Tech Specialist certificate program provides students with the skills to enter the automotive industry as an entry level transmission, transaxle, and drive line technician. Topics covered include: shop safety, basic electrical/electronic theory and diagnosis, manual transmission/transaxle operation and diagnosis, automatic transmission/transaxle operation and diagnosis, axles operation and diagnosis, differentials operation and diagnosis, and 4WD/AWD systems operation and diagnosis.

Requirements:

Submit a completed application and application fee
Be at least 16 years of age
Submit official high school transcript or High School Equivalency transcript or college transcripts showing successful completion of 60+ semester credits or 72+ quarter credits
Submit official college transcripts, if applicable
Present acceptable ACCUPLACER, ACT, ASSET, COMPASS, PSAT, or SAT scores, Georgia Milestones Literature/Composition or Georgia Milestones American Literature/Composition (for meeting English requirement only) or GED score of 145 or higher, or have one of the following: an associate degree or higher or have a High School overall GPA of 2.0, a HOPE Scholarship GPA of 2.6 or higher after the completion of 10^th grade, or have 2 years documented work experience in the subject area. Documentation on a college transcript of successful completion of appropriate courses from a regionally accredited college or university may be accepted in lieu of test scores.

Topics include: safety procedures; legal/ethical responsibilities; general service; hand tools; shop organization, management, and work flow systems.	2
AUTT 1020Automotive Electrical Systems Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2 Lab 2 - 2 Lab 3 - 12 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): AUTT 1010 This course introduces automotive electrical systems emphasizing the basic operating principles, diagnosis, and service/repair of batteries, starting systems, charging systems, lighting systems, instrument cluster and driver information systems, and body electrical systems.	7
AUTT 2020Automotive Manual Drive Train and Axles Weekly Contact Hours: Lecture - 2.12 Lab 2 - 2.08 Lab 3 - 2.53333 Pre-requisite(s): None Co-requisite(s): AUTT 1010 This course introduces the basics of rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive drive line operation, diagnosis, service, and related electronic controls. Topics include: general drive train diagnosis; clutch diagnosis and repair; manual transmission/transaxles diagnosis and repair; drive shaft and half shaft, universal and constant velocity (CV) joint diagnosis and repair; drive axle diagnosis and repair; and four-wheel drive/all wheel drive component diagnosis and repair.	4

Topics include: general automatic transmission and transaxle diagnosis; in vehicle and off vehicle transmission and transaxle maintenance, adjustment and repair.	5
