Basic Entrepreneurial Skills (BF71)  Technical Certificate of Credit


Purpose: The Basic Entrepreneurial Skills program is designed to introduce the student to business culture.

Curriculum: The training includes an overview of the business culture, organizational behavior, business plan development, and personal finance.

Careers: Entry Level Business Positions

Requirements:

  • Submit a completed application and application fee
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Present acceptable ACCUPLACER, ACT, ASSET, COMPASS, PSAT, or SAT scores or GED score of 145 or higher or have one of the following: an associate degree or higher or have a HOPE GPA of 2.6 after the completion of 10th grade. Documentation on a college transcript of successful completion of appropriate courses from a regionally accredited college or university may be accepted in lieu of test scores.

Topics include: health and wellness; exercise; stress, time, and money management; work ethics; wardrobe on the job; workplace communications; and business entertainment, travel, and international culture.

Topics include: employee relations principles, problem solving and decision making, leadership techniques to develop employee morale, human values and attitudes, organizational communications, interpersonal communications, and employee conflict.

Topics include: business/community compatibility, introduction to cash flow and break even analysis, development of product/service idea, determination of market feasibility, determination of financial feasibility, development of marketing strategy, development of operations outline, and application of financial concepts.
