QEP

WHAT IS A QUALITY ENHANCEMENT PLAN (QEP)?

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is the component of the reaffirmation of the accreditation process that reflects and affirms the commitment of SACSCOC to enhancing the quality of higher education in the region and to focusing attention on student learning. The QEP describes a carefully designed course of action that addresses a well-defined and focused topic or issue related to enhancing student learning and/or student success. The QEP should be embedded within the institution’s ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes and may very well evolve from this existing process or other processes related to the institution’s internal reaffirmation review.

The Quality Enhancement Plan is a document developed by the institution that (1) includes a process identifying key issues emerging from institutional assessment, (2) focuses on student learning and/or student success, (3) demonstrates institutional capability for the initiation, implementation, and completion of the QEP, (4) includes broad-based involvement of institutional constituencies in the development and proposed implementation of the QEP, and (5) identifies goals and a plan to assess their achievement.

2025-2030 QEP: CONNECT ONLINE FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Connect Online for Student Success, focuses on increasing student success in online classes, a value at the core of the College’s mission and strategic plan. The QEP is designed to improve the student experience in online courses by connecting students to academic and student support resources, faculty to professional development, and staff to professional development in working with online students.

Connect Online for Student Success will enhance the College’s mission of workforce development and support students across distance education modalities. Adoption of a QEP to focus on increasing student success in online classes is a natural progression in the College’s history of student success enhancements, including a focus on connecting online students to resources and providing training for faculty in the development and instruction of online classes, an extension of Engage in Excellence training, the College’s previous QEP. An analysis of data through ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes and broad-based input from students, faculty, staff, and the community led to the topic and the following goals. The purpose of the QEP is to increase the online course success rate to 80% by 2030, from 72%.

The College identified three goals that will be fulfilled through six strategies; the strategies were chosen to achieve three specific student success objectives. The effectiveness of the six strategies implemented in Connect Online for Student Success each have specific effectiveness outcomes with defined success targets and formative and summative assessment methods; where applicable, progress benchmarks are identified and incorporated into the QEP assessment plan.
