GED® Testing

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is an official GED® testing center. Candidates must complete demographics information and verify eligibility to test before permission is granted to schedule GED® tests. Pre-registration and advance payments are required. Successful completion of the GED® tests qualifies an individual for a state of Georgia General Educational Development (GED®) credential. GED® credentials are accepted by industry, government, licensing boards, technical colleges, and employers as the equivalent to a high school education. For GED® testing information visit the Adult Education Office or GED® testing official on campus.

The GED® test consists of four parts, covering the following subject areas: Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. These tests are designed to enable people who did not graduate from high school to demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge and skills usually associated with the completion of a four-year high school program of study.

GED® Diploma Guidelines

The GED® testing program is jointly administered by the GED® Testing Service (GEDTS) of the American Council on Education and by the Technical College System of Georgia Office of Adult Literacy. The GED® battery of tests is developed by GEDTS and the same tests are given in all fifty states.

The GED® test provides adults at least 16 years of age, who are beyond the age of required high school attendance under state law, with an opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma. In order to pass the GED® test, a student must pass a series of four tests in social studies, science, language arts, and mathematics. Successfully passing these sections demonstrates that the student has acquired a level of learning that is comparable to that of high school graduates. The GEDTS has set a national standard for the minimum score an examinee can receive in order to pass the GED®. GED® diplomas are issued according to the following guidelines:
