Students Returning to Wiregrass

Welcome back to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. We are excited you have decided to return! This page is for applicants who have previously attended WGTC. Below are detailed instructions to help you re-enroll. Please see our FAQ page or email onestop@wiregrass.edu with any questions.

Step One – WGTC Application

Submit a completed application to the One-Stop Enrollment and Success Center. Pay a one-time, $25 non-refundable application fee.

Step Two – Lawful Presence and Georgia Residency

Fully and accurately answer all residency questions on the application. Submit one or more of the required documents to complete verification of lawful presence and/or Georgia residency requirements to the One-Stop Enrollment and Success Center.

Step Three – Proof of Secondary Education

Submit official, sealed high school or high school equivalency (such as GED©) transcript, if not previously submitted. The final transcript should include the graduation date. Opened transcripts are not official and therefore invalid.

Transfer students who have successfully completed 30 or more semester hours, or 45 or more quarter hours, at the degree-level are not required to submit high school or high school equivalency transcripts.

Students from secondary schools outside of the United States must have transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved outside evaluation agency.

High schools not certified under a recognized accredited program will not be accepted. Additionally, high school Certificates of Attendance or other certificates, credentials, or documents where the student did not complete all required coursework are not recognized.

Home School Graduates

Applicants of home schools in the State of Georgia who did not attend a recognized accredited program must adhere to the following alternative path for admission:

  • Submit a Certificate of Attendance from the local superintendent’s office or a Declaration of Intent to utilize a Home Study Program from the Georgia Department of Education verifying that the parent or legal guardian complied with the requirements of home study programs as reference in O.C.G.A. 20-2-690. If you do not have a copy of this form, please contact the Georgia Department of Education.
  • Submit annual progress reports or final transcripts for the equivalent of the home-schooled student’s junior and senior years. The final progress report should include the graduation date.

Applicants of home schools outside the state of Georgia who did not attend a recognized accredited program must adhere to the following alternative path for admission:

  • Submit annual progress reports or final transcripts for the equivalent of the home-schooled student’s junior and senior years. The final progress report should include the graduation date.
  • Submit valid SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, or Compass scores that meet or exceed the TCSG system and college minimum score requirements for program readiness (regular admission). Scores must not be over 60 months or 5 years old at the time classes begin.

Step Four – Postsecondary Education

Postsecondary Education transcripts are no longer required as of Summer Semester 2022. To receive transfer credit, students must submit official, sealed transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. Opened transcripts are not official and therefore invalid.

Students from postsecondary schools outside the United States must have transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved outside evaluation agency to receive transfer credit.

Step Five – Assessment ***WAIVED THROUGH SUMMER 2023***

Complete the ACCUPLACER placement test or submit one of the following to exempt testing:

  • Valid Compass, PSAT, SAT, ACT, GED®, ELA, or Georgia Milestone test scores;
  • Proof of high school HOPE GPA (after completion of 10th grade) of 2.6 or higher;
  • Postsecondary transcripts showing completion of an English and/or Math with a ‘C’ or better;
  • Postsecondary transcripts showing attainment of an Associate’s Degree or higher.

Applicants must have a valid picture ID to test.

Step Six – Financial Aid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the application for both the Federal Pell Grant AND the HOPE Scholarship/Grant.
