Accelerated Career Diploma

Accelerated Career Diploma, formerly known as Option B, offers qualified students an alternate path to high school graduation. Students choose to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and a Wiregrass degree, diploma or two (2) Technical Certificates of Credit in a specific career pathway. Accelerated Career Diploma is only available for those students attending a public high school in Georgia.

  1. Complete all required high school courses:

Requirements for students graduating in 2022 and beyond:

  • 2 English/Language Arts (one of which must be American Lit and EOC)
  • 2 Math (Algebra 1 and EOC)
  • 2 Sciences (one of which must be Biology and EOC)
  • 2 Social Studies
  • 1 Health/PE
All required Milestone/EOC Exams (Some of these courses may be taken under Dual Enrollment)
Beginning with the freshman class of 2022-23, students must take Personal Finance, American Government and Economics
  1. After completion of these courses, students must then complete ONE of the following:
  • Any one Wiregrass Associate Degree Program*
  • Any one Wiregrass Diploma Program*
  • Or 2 of the following Wiregrass Technical Certificates of Credit (TCC):
    • Air Conditioning TCCs:
      • Air Conditioning Technician Assistant (AZ31)
      • Air Conditioning Electrical Technician (ACK1)
    • Automotive TCCs:
      • Auto Electrical/Electrical Systems Tech (AE41) and
      • Automotive Climate Control Systems (AH21) or Automotive Chassis Technician Specialist (ASG1) or Automotive Engine Performance Technician (AE51)
    • Design and Media Production TCCs:
      • Design and Media Production Specialist (DAM1)
      • Graphic Design and Prepress Technician (GD21)
    • Diesel Technology TCCs:
      • Diesel Electrical and Electronics Systems (DE11)
      • Diesel Truck Maintenance Technician (DTM1)
    • Early Childhood Care and Education TCCs:
      • Child Development Specialist (CD61)
      • Early Childhood Care and Education Basics (EC31)
    • Emergency Services TCCs:
      • Emergency Medical Responder (EB71)
      • Emergency Medical Technician (EMJ1)
    • Healthcare TCCs:
      • Nurse Aide (CN21)
      • Geriatric Care Assistant (GC51)
    • Industrial Systems TCCs:
      • Industrial Fluid Power Technician (IF11)
      • Industrial Electrician (IE41)
    • Precision Machining and Manufacturing TCCs:
      • Mill Operator (MP11)
      • Basic Machining Operator (BMO1)
    • Any 2 of the following Welding TCCs:
      • Flux Cored Arc Welder (FC61)
      • Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder (FS31)
      • Gas Metal Arc Welder (GM31)
      • Gas Tungsten Arc Welder (GTA1)

*Students enrolling in Accelerated Career Diploma are limited to 30 hours of Dual Enrollment Funding, just like traditional Dual Enrollment students. Qualified Accelerated Career Diploma students who max out their 30 hours of Dual Enrollment Funding may use the HOPE Grant and HOPE Career Grant to finish their diploma program, if eligible. Students who use the HOPE Grant/HOPE Career Grant must meet HOPE residency requirements. Any HOPE Career Grant or HOPE Grant hours used will count against HOPE program caps after high school graduation. All students who max out their 30 hours can choose to self-pay for additional courses.
