Valdosta, GA— Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is now offering new Student Health Clinic services for students beginning Fall Semester. The college partnered with SGMC Health and Valdosta State University (VSU) to share the Nurse Practitioners who currently work in the VSU Student Health Center. The Nurse practitioners Rebecca Brown and Zsuzanna Bartha, are employees of SGMC Health and will now share their work week between VSU and Wiregrass.
The Wiregrass clinic will be open Monday and Wednesday on the Valdosta Campus. Students on Wiregrass' northern campuses can also make appointments with the clinic in person or via Telemedicine for qualified visits using an online platform. For students, there will be no out-of-pocket charge when visiting the clinic for the services provided. The clinic will be able to provide the following services physical assessment, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal illnesses, urinary tract infections, dermatological, sexual health, sprains/strains, minor infections, rashes and bites, blood pressure checks, finger stick blood sugar checks, and flu vaccine. The clinic is in the college’s Mark Hall Health Sciences Building. It will provide opportunities for college programs such as Medical Assisting, Medical Lab Technology, Nursing, and EMS for hands-on training in a working health clinic environment. April Lamon is the Executive Director of Clinical Operations and Partnerships. She shared, “The Wiregrass Student Health Clinic is dedicated to supporting student success by providing cost effective, evidence-based, student-centered healthcare that promotes wellness and academic success. Our partnership with SGMC Health and VSU has been invaluable in helping us succeed in making our vision a reality.”
