Wiregrass RN Program Expansion Approved by ACEN

Douglas, GA – Wiregrass Georgia Technical College President DeAnnia Clements is excited to announce the approval by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for the college to offer the Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) program on the Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee Campuses.

The RN program will be accepting 30 students starting Fall Semester 2023 on the Coffee Campus and Fall Semester 2024 a new cohort will begin on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. The two campuses will rotate new classes every other year. In September 2022, Coffee Regional Medical Center announced they were committing $300,000 payable over the next four years to the Wiregrass Tech Foundation North. The pledge will support costs for the new RN program on the Coffee Campus.

Wiregrass started the RN program on the Valdosta Campus in Spring of 2014 and has had great success The RN program at Wiregrass has been named the number one program in the state for 2023, 2022, 2020, and 2019 according to the NursingProcess.org.

The RN program is one of the competitive admissions programs at the college and the application deadline for the ASN program on the Coffee Campus is June 1, 2023, for Fall Semester 2023 start date. The application deadline for Fall 2024 entry for the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus is May 1, 2024. The college will host an Open House from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on March 14 on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus and March 21 on the Coffee Campus. The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about the RN program. During the month of March, the college is waiving the application fees when you apply for Summer or Fall Semesters.
