Wiregrass Names Nursing Wing – Coffee Regional Medical Center Nursing Wing

Posted on

Douglas, GA— Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (WGTC) President DeAnnia Clements announced the naming of the nursing wing on the Coffee Campus as the Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Nursing Wing at a Dedication Ceremony. The naming of the wing was made possible thanks to a $300,000 donation to the college payable over the next four years to the Wiregrass Tech Foundation North by CRMC. The pledge supports costs for the new Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) that started Fall Semester 2023.

“We applaud WGTC for its commitment to helping prepare registered nurses for our region. Coffee Regional is proud to support the launch of the new ASN program on the WGTC Douglas Campus, and we look forward to the positive impact this program will have on our community’s health and well-being now and for years to come,” stated CRMC President and CEO Vicki Lewis.

In Fall 2023, the college expanded the RN program to the Coffee Campus with 24 students. The college has a long-standing reputation for a strong nursing program. In the Spring of 2014, the college started the RN program on the Valdosta Campus and has had great success. The RN program at Wiregrass has been named the number-one program in the state for 2023, 2022, 2020, and 2019 according to NursingProcess.org.

WGTC President DeAnnia Clements stated, “Wiregrass is honored to partner with Coffee Regional Medical Center and excited to see this program grow. We are proud of our instructors and look forward to great things from the first inaugural class.” She added jokingly that the RN program had cost the college one of the patient care assisting instructors who is now a proud student of the program.

The next cohort of 30 students will begin in the Fall of 2025, the college will announce when those interested can start applying. The Coffee Campus has the following Health Science programs, Practical Nursing, EMT/Paramedic, Patient Care Assistant, Nursing Technician, and Phlebotomy.
