Valdosta, Ga— Students on the Valdosta Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College learned at a special scholarship event that their hard work is paying off. Thanks to the generous donation of friends and supporters of the college, four students were awarded scholarships that will help pay for tuition, fees, books, and/or supplies needed for their programs.
Those receiving scholarships for Spring Semester were: William Exum (Welding) Coyote Manufacturing Welding Scholarship, Jennifer Daniel (Associate of Science in Nursing) Carolyn Zeigler Memorial Scholarship, Joy Sexton (Practical Nursing) Marion H. Massee, III Scholarship, and April Mew (Business Management) Ken and Cheryl Coffey Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships were merit based and applicants had to complete an application as well as provide letters of support.
William Exum shared that he plans to use his scholarship money towards his program costs and saving some to help him once he graduates and starts working. Jennifer Daniel will be graduating in May from the Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) program and has continued to work full-time while in school. She expressed how grateful she was to receive this scholarship for her last semester and said, “This will definitely go towards paying my tuition. Paying for college yourself is hard, and this is a very big help for me.”
