Today, the Lowndes County 911 Center received a bomb threat against the Valdosta campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College that had come in on their line at about 12:30 pm. The 911 Center immediately dispatched Lowndes County Deputies and the 911 Center contacted the Chief of Wiregrass Campus Police. The building was evacuated. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the evacuation and conducted a search and nothing was found. As an extra step of precaution, a K-9 unit arrived on the scene and a dog (EOD) conducted another search of the building. The building was then cleared for reopening. Wiregrass President DeAnnia Clements and Police Chief Tim Allmond appreciated the quick response and assistance of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s department in this matter. The college is conducting business as normal.
