Wiregrass to offer summer camps for kids

Summer Camps on the Valdosta Campus

Valdosta, GA. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is hosting fun and educational camps this summer.

The Valdosta Campus will be hosting two camps, Nail Tech Kids Camp, and C.S.I. Crime Scene Investigation Camp.

The Cosmetology Department is hosting the Nail Tech Kids Camp for students in grades second to eighth. Students will learn to perform manicures and pedicures. They will get to create nail art while learning proper sanitation measures. The camp will be held on the Valdosta Campus on May 30, 31 and June 1 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Registration is $40 which includes materials, snacks, t-shirt and pizza party.

The C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigation) Kid’s Camp will be held June 21 and 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The C.S.I. Camp is for kids entering second grade up to high school seniors. Cost of the camp is $35 per student or $60 for two participants. This cost includes materials, lunch, and a snack. Students will learn how to gather evidence for scientific analysis in a crime laboratory.

Summer Camps on the Valdosta Campus

 

The Cook Workforce Development Center will have two camps on their campus this year. The Cosmetology Department is sponsoring Got Braids? Camp for students 4th grade through 12th grade. Students will learn different hair braiding techniques, proper sanitation measures, and more. There will be a final day show. All supplies, materials, snacks, and t-shirt are included in the registration fee of $40. The camp will be held on the Cook Campus on June 5, 6, and 7 from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigation) Kids Camp will be held June 28 and 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The C.S.I. Camp is for kids entering second grade up to high school seniors. Cost of the camp is $35 per student or $60 for two participants. This cost includes materials, lunch, and a snack. Students will learn how to gather evidence for scientific analysis in a crime laboratory. Summer Camps on Coffee Campus

 

The Coffee Campus will be hosting a Cosmo Camp for Kids, June 6 – 8. The Cosmetology Department is hosting the camp for students in grades second to eighth. Students will perform manicures, pedicures, and more. They will get to create nail art while learning proper sanitation measures. The camp will be held on the Coffee Campus from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Registration is $40 which includes materials, snacks, t-shirt and pizza party.

The Coffee Campus will also be hosting a Welding Camp for Kids, June 5-8 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Campers will participate in the safe operation of welding equipment to include Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Oxy/Fuel and Plasma cutting. Each camper will be paired up with a college welding student in a joint effort to design, cut, join/weld and complete an art project. Campers will be able to take the art project home at the end of camp. All campers will be required to wear sturdy cotton (jean/kaki) long pants, long sleeve shirts and shoes (no open shoes, sandals, croc's etc.) All Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

 Summer Camps on BHI Campus

The summer, on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus, the popular CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) Kid’s Campus is back. The CSI camp is for kids entering third grade up to high school seniors.

The Kid’s Camp gives area students a chance to experience a fun week while learning how to conduct investigations! With equipment and state-of-the-art techniques, the Criminal Justice Department at Wiregrass is hosting this camp to give students a peak into the world of forensics. Students will learn how to gather evidence for scientific analysis in a crime laboratory. All supplies and materials needed are included in the registration fee. The camp will be held July 17- 20 on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The fee for the Ben Hill-Irwin Camp is $55.
